How do I install my Leafcrop 4G?

Install my 4G leaf wetness sensor on the base of my station

Updated this week

Prerequisites

A few prerequisites must be followed:

  • The wetness sensor, in the shape of a leaf, must be placed within the foliage. In arboriculture, the sensor must be placed within the top third of the tree. To be even more accurate, it can be positioned opposite the prevailing wind. Placing it in this way allows users to record data from the zone with the greatest humidity (greater risk of fungal growth). It is recommended to tilt the sensor to 20° in order to be as similar as possible to a real leaf.

  • The temperature and humidity sensors, protected by the slatted cover, are placed depending on the location where you want to record the data (e.g. near the ground, among foliage, or as near as possible to the shoots).

  • The electronic box with the antenna must be positioned as high up as possible. It is important to place this box outside the trees’ foliage, and at a height that will ensure good reception.

Following these specifications will let you collect data that reflects as closely as possible the true conditions on your plots. In order to optimize data collection, it is also sensible to choose a place that is representative of your land.

If there are numerous weather stations distributed around your farm, you could alternatively choose a place where the meteorological conditions are ‘extreme’ in order to anticipate interventions that would be needed in the rest of your plots.
