Before you begin, you can read the general information on agricultural indicators âĄïž Introduction to agricultural indicators
Create an indicator
How do I create a new agronomic indicator?
You can create an indicator from two places within the app:
From the Plot page â go to your plot and add an indicator directly
From the Agro Indicators menu â go to the dedicated tab and create a new indicator
To configure it:
Give it a name
Set the threshold temperatures: base temperature (below which growth is negligible) and maximum temperature (above which growth stops)
Add your phenological stages with the associated growing degree day accumulation (e.g.: Flowering â 1500 °C)
Choose the start date for accumulation:
Annual crops â from sowing/planting date
Perennial crops â generally from January 1st
What are Sencrop templates?
Sencrop offers ready-to-use models in the "My Networks" section, organized by the most common crops. They are designed for farmers who want to start tracking growing degree days without any prior configuration.
Templates do not cover all crops â Sencrop has focused on the most common crops to get started. B2B partners can create their own custom templates and share their specific agronomic expertise with their farmers via their network.
How is the growing degree day calculation performed?
The calculation is based solely on temperature (sum of temperatures), combining:
Data measured by your Sencrop station.
Sencrop weather forecasts (forecast or basic MLM depending on your preferences in the app settings)
No other factors (radiation, humidity...) are currently taken into account.
Assigning an indicator to a field
How do I assign an indicator to my fields?
Once your indicator is created, you can assign it to one or more fields. It will appear directly in the tab of each field, ready to be visualized and tracked throughout the season. A visual icon will appear on the field list view to identify at a glance those being monitored by an agro-indicator.
Can I assign the same indicator to several plots? | Yes, the same indicator can be assigned to several plots at the same time. This is useful for monitoring the same crop across different plots using a single set of settings. |
Can I use a virtual station for my gauges? | Yes. As well as physical stations, you can select a virtual station to calculate temperature totals and rainfall totals for your plots. If a virtual station is the closest source to your plot when it is created, it is automatically linked to it. Only the owner of the virtual station can use it â they are not shared within the community. |
Can I adjust the start date or the thresholds during the season? | Yes. It will be possible to change the start date of the cumulative period or the threshold temperatures even after monitoring has begun. The system will automatically recalculate the figures for the entire season based on the new settings. |
Can I remove an indicator from a plot? | Yes. From a plotâs page, you will soon be able to unlink an indicator. This will only remove the link between the indicator and the plot â the indicator will remain available to be reassigned to other plots. |
I canât see the button to create an indicator â why is that? | If the âCreateâ button does not appear on the Agro Indicators page, this is probably because you are a collaborator (rather than an owner) within the organisation. Only owners can create new indicators. Please contact your organisationâs administrator. |
My crop variety isnât available in the templates â what should I do? | Sencrop templates cover the most common crops and varieties. For more specific varieties, the data must be taken from reference studies (e.g. Arvalis). If your variety is not available, you can create a custom indicator by manually entering your temperature thresholds and phenological stages based on the data provided by your seed supplier. |
