💡 You need a Soilcrop capacitive probe to get your soil moisture data.
For irrigation control, the data from the 4 sensors of your Soilcrop probe are averaged over a specific depth based on root exploration.
If you activate the alert, you will be warned when the sensor detects that the moisture level is too low for the plant to be in water comfort and that the critical stage of the plant is reached.
⚠️ Please note, that a lack of water at the beginning of the cycle can affect yields.
If you have any doubt about the data shown on your curves, verify that the probe is properly installed.

Thresholds calculation
The soil moisture level is a translation in percentage of the raw measurement from the sensor. It takes into account the soil type.
This calibration method is provided by the sensor manufacturer.
The Field capacity moisture (FC) / Permanent wilting point moisture (PWP) thresholds are calculated based on the soil analysis you entered in the soil type. Please note that the formula may be inconsistent with your sensor data.
In that case, it is necessary to manually calibrate the thresholds.
🚨 We have set up these thresholds using the latest methods in the market. Because each context is unique, we highly recommend consulting with an irrigation expert to calibrate these thresholds.

Soil analysis
Some soil analysis laboratories offer an analysis of Water Holding Capacity.
The PF 2.5 is equivalent to the FC value (field capacity moisture) in the Sencrop application.
The PF 4.2 is equivalent to the PWP value (permanent wilting point moisture) in the Sencrop application.
The analysis results allow for recalibrating the irrigation control thresholds in the application.
💡 If you have two sets of data for the 0-30 cm and 30-60 cm depths, calculate the average of both sets.

Calculations
💡Adjust the Readily available water based on the probe measurements and according to the field conditions.
FC - PWP = X
Readily available water = FC - (X * TAW crop percentage)
Crop at 2/3 TAW | corn/wheat/rapeseed | X * 2/3 |
Crop at 1/2 TAW | sugar beet | X* 1/2 |
Crop at 1/3 TAW | potato | X* 1/3 |
Example
FC - PWP = X
34 - 13 = 21%
TAW percentage | Crop type | Calculation of X | Readily available water (RAW) |
Crop at 2/3 TAW | 🌾 corn/wheat/rapeseed | 21 * 2/3 = 14 | 34 - 14 = 20% |
Crop at 1/2 TAW | 🍠 sugar beet | 21 * 1/2 = 10.5 | 34 - 10.5 = 23.5% |
Crop at 1/3 TAW | 🥔 potato | 21 * 1/3 = 7 | 34 - 7 = 27% |
