🍂 Soilcrop - How do I read and understand my soil moisture curves?

Reading and interpreting my soil humidity / moisture curves depending on your capacitive probe / Soilcrop

Updated over 8 months ago

We have divided the different elements of your soil moisture curves into colored zones for easier reading of the water stress on your crops.

⚠️ You need a Soilcrop station, the soil probe from Sencrop.

Areas

🟠🔵 Orange/Blue Line: Median humidity

This line represents the aggregation of all the measurements recorded by the sensors of your Soilcrop.
It shows the global measure of the moisture of the layer covered by your Soilcrop (0-60 cm).

🟩 Green zone: Hydric comfort area

This zone is the reserve that is easily accessible to the plant. It corresponds to the volume of water that the soil is capable of holding and that can be returned to the crop.

🟨 Yellow zone: Vigilance area

In this zone, the plant enters a potential water stress situation.

🟥 Red zone: High hydric stress

In this zone, the plant is endangered by extreme hydric stress.

Without water, it decreases its evapotranspiration activity to conserve its energy and survive.

Without a rapid water supply, it will reach the wilting point, where the capillary retention force exceeds the maximum root suction force.

Bars

💠 Blue bar: Rainfall

The blue bars represent the rainfall recorded by your Raincrop. However, only a part of this rainfall is taken into account in the calculation, these are the effective rainfalls.

🟢 Green bar: your irrigation

The green bars represent the irrigation you added to the app.

You can either enter a quantity of water by irrigation or if you are using a drip system, you can simply add the amount of water you added to your soil by day.
